Create stunning Instagram carousels in seconds
The Brief
Swipez was born from a simple observation: Instagram carousels get 3× more engagement than single posts, but creating them is painful. Existing tools are either desktop-only, overly complex, or produce generic results. We wanted to build a mobile-first app that lets creators produce scroll-stopping carousels in under a minute, with templates that feel custom-designed.

How we built it
We started with extensive user research, interviewing content creators and social media managers about their carousel creation workflow. The key insight: people wanted speed and uniqueness, not another design tool. So we focused on opinionated templates that produce high-quality results with minimal input.
The app was built with React Native and Expo for cross-platform reach, with Reanimated powering buttery-smooth gesture interactions. Each template — Panorama, Crossover, Grid, Overlay, and Journey — was carefully designed and optimised for Instagram's aspect ratios. Users import a photo, pick a template, customise colours and text, and export all slides instantly.
Performance was critical. Image processing happens on-device using native modules, and the gesture-driven UI responds at 60fps even on mid-range devices. We built a custom preview system that simulates the Instagram swipe experience so creators can see exactly how their carousel will look before exporting.

Impact & outcomes
Swipez is currently in closed beta with a community of early adopters. Initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with users highlighting the speed of carousel creation (average 45 seconds from photo to export) and the quality of the templates. The app is on track for public launch on both App Store and Google Play.
